PYTHAGORAS THEOREM

PYTHAGORAS THEOREM  Objective   To verify Pythagoras Theorem by performing an activity. The area of the square constructed on the hypotenuse of a right - angled triangle is equal to the sum of the areas of two squares constructed on other two sides of right angled triangle. Prerequisite Knowledge  In a right angled triangle the square of hypotenuse is equal to the sum of square on the other two sides. Concept of a right-angled triangle. Area of Square = (Side)² Construction of perpendicular lines.  Materials Required  Coloured papers, pair of Scissors, Fevicol, geometry box, sketch pens,  light coloured square sheet. PROCEDURE Take coloured paper draw and cut a right angle triangle ACB right angled at C off side 3cm, 4cm and 5cm as shown in figure 1 Paste this triangle on white sheet of paper.  Draw squares on each side of the triangle on side AB, BC and AC name them accordingly as shown in figure 2. Extend th...

THALES THEOREM

THALES THEOREM OBJECTIVE - to verify the basic proportionality theorem by using parallel lines board triangles cutouts Basic proportionality theorem If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides at distinct points two sides are divided in the same ratio Prerequisite Knowledge Statement of basic proportionality theorem Drawing a line parallel to a given line which passes through a given point Materials Required White chart paper coloured paper pencil glue a pair of scissor and ruled paper sheet OBSERVATION Cut an acute angle se triangle ABC from coloured paper. Paste the angle abc on ruled sheet such that the base of the triangle coincides with ruled line Mark two points P and Q on AB and AC such that PQ||BC. Using a ruler measure the length of AP, PB, AQ, and QC. Repeat the same for right angle triangle and obtuse angle triangle. Now observe the following observation table RESULT In each set of triangles we verify t...

Scoliosis-A Body Defect

What Young People and Their Parents Need to Know About SCOLIOSIS  Source: Books A Physical Therapist’s Perspective What is Scoliosis? Your spine has three slight curves—one in the neck, one in the upper back, and another in the lower back. These curves are normal and can be seen from a side view. From a back view, your spine should appear straight. If your spine has a side-to-side curve, the curve is called scoliosis. The curve may be very small—mild. It may be bigger—moderate.Or it may be sharp—severe. Scoliosis is not poor posture and is not caused by the way you carry objects. Scoliosis is not a disease. You cannot catch scoliosis from someone else and you cannot prevent it. For most people who have scoliosis, the causes are not known. Who Gets It and When  Both boys and girls can develop scoliosis. About the same number of boys and girls develop the mildform. Moderateor severe scoliosis is more common in girls than in boys. Up to 10 in 100 young people will develop at leas...
